Garage mini-split air conditioner

Project Overview

A homeowner in Murrieta, CA wanted to transform their garage into a more comfortable and functional workout space. During the warmer months, temperatures inside the garage could become uncomfortable, making it difficult to fully enjoy the space for exercise and fitness activities. The homeowner was looking for an efficient heating and cooling solution that would provide year-round comfort without requiring extensive modifications to the home.

The Challenge

Garages are often one of the most difficult areas of a home to keep comfortable. Many are not connected to the central HVAC system, and even when they are, the existing equipment is rarely designed to handle the additional heating and cooling load. As a result, temperatures can fluctuate dramatically throughout the day, especially during Murrieta's hot summer months.

Because the garage was being used as a dedicated workout and weight room, maintaining a comfortable temperature was essential for both comfort and usability.

Why a Mini Split Was the Right Solution

After evaluating the space and the homeowner's goals, we recommended a dedicated mini split system. Mini splits provide highly efficient heating and cooling while allowing precise temperature control without relying on existing ductwork.

This approach gave the homeowner the ability to quickly cool or heat the garage as needed while maintaining excellent energy efficiency. The system can operate independently from the rest of the home, providing comfort exactly where it is needed.

Garage Mini Split Installation

Our team installed a properly sized mini split system designed specifically for the garage and workout area. The installation included mounting the indoor air handler, installing the outdoor unit, routing refrigerant lines, completing electrical connections, and testing all system functions to ensure reliable operation.

To provide a clean, professional appearance, the refrigerant lines and wiring were protected using lineset covers that help shield critical components from weather and physical damage while maintaining an attractive finished look.

Results

The garage has been transformed into a comfortable, climate-controlled workout space that can be enjoyed throughout the year. The homeowner now has reliable heating and cooling for their weight room, allowing workouts to continue regardless of outdoor temperatures.

The new mini split system delivers efficient performance, quiet operation, and precise temperature control while enhancing the overall functionality of the garage. With dedicated comfort for the fitness area, the homeowner can enjoy a more productive and enjoyable workout environment during every season.

Root intrusion on main water line overview

A water stain suddenly appearing on the ceiling can make it difficult to know where to start. The water may be showing downstairs, but the plumbing problem causing it could be several feet away or on the floor above. We recently performed a leak detection service at a home in Temecula, California , after the homeowner discovered a ceiling leak underneath an upstairs guest bathroom. Because there were multiple plumbing fixtures above the damaged area, we did not want to assume where the water was coming from. We inspected the bathroom, looked for signs of active and previous leakage, and eventually traced the problem to the upstairs toilet. One of the first clues was something many homeowners probably would not think much about: the toilet bolts were rusty . That clue, combined with what we found after pulling the toilet, helped us identify a failed toilet seal and a toilet flange that sat too low beneath the finished tile.

When a homeowner in Menifee contacted Rodgers Air Conditioning & Plumbing about a slab leak, the original plan seemed straightforward. We would reroute the leaking hot water line and eliminate the leak without breaking through the concrete foundation. However, after evaluating the plumbing system, it became clear that simply repairing one pipe wasn't necessarily the best long-term solution. The leaking pipe happened to be one of the longest hot water runs beneath the home. While we could certainly reroute that single line, we discussed the possibility that additional aging pipes beneath the slab could eventually develop leaks of their own. After reviewing the options, the homeowner decided to invest in a partial PEX-A repipe that replaced the entire downstairs plumbing system, helping eliminate the risk of future slab leaks on the lower level.
